My first foray into marketing was working with an amazing rum of Barbadian origins, Cockspur Rum. It was a small brand with enviable cult appeal, a brand I almost regret getting as my first marketing gig as I was too easily influenced by ‘short sighted’ 3rd parties who had no real interest in this brand ever becoming more than a traded commodity. It’s a brand that could have been so much more given half a chance and I regret the role I played in its unwarranted malaise. I mention this now, only because Burning Barn is playing its part in making rum truly discerning – the velvety smooth apple & treacle top notes contained within its smoked rum honestly have to be tasted to be believed.
